KICKS - General Information (3-9 year olds)
“KICKS” is a recreational soccer league that was founded in early 2004. Our mission is to provide a fun, recreation league where you can play on teams from your own area as often as possible. Our growth has been incredible, and we are delighted to be meeting the soccer needs of Southern Utah
2004 – 300 players
2005 – 600 players
2006 – 800 players
2007 – 1000 players
In 2008, we will be restructuring some things to meet the continued growth and expansion of both KICKS and our competitive league, RCL. We will be posting more information soon so that you can plan for your child’s soccer future!
Cost: $65 – includes uniform
Games days: Mostly Saturday
Fields: Dixie State College Encampment Mall
Play level: Recreation w/volunteer coaches
Team size: Depends on age and the number of kids that sign up. Small sided teams ensure that every child gets more time with the ball! A guide is below. From 3v3 to 8v8.
Ages: You must be at least 3 years of age on August 1st but not yet 9.
Requests: We will continue to honor team requests wherever possible and to form teams by neighborhood. However, we cannot guarantee any requests. If you’d like to form your own team from your neighborhood, please turn in applications together in one packet and include your designated coach. Double check all birth dates so that there aren’t any surprises.
Referees: The coach’s will be the referees for all U8 and younger games. We will provide you with a whistle and a stopwatch. We ask that you encourage learning during every game by explaining every whistle to all the kids. You may either have one coach take the first half, and the other takes the second half. Or you may both be on the field during the whole game.
Volunteers: KICKS relies on volunteer parents to make the magic happen. We want to provide a place where all kids can learn to play and then gain the confidence and the desire to keep improving! Please help us continue that quest by volunteering to coach or to be otherwise involved with the team and the league.
Age Groups: What does the “U” in U8 stand for? The “U” stands for “Under”. Our cutoff is July 31st. So if your child was not yet 8 years old on July 31st, then he is considered a “U8” player for the entire soccer year. August 1, thru July 31st.
KICKS soccer allows all players to play in their own age-group, or to elect to “play up” one year. That means that Tommy who is 6 years old on July 31st can request to play with Billy who is 7 years old. But Tommy’s parents need to realize that he will be playing in an older league – U8 Boys. Billy cannot “play down” with Tommy in the U7 bracket.
